Meet Tyler: Faith, Farming & Focus

Tyler is steady, practical, and faith-driven. He leads with consistency — whether that’s on the farm, in Africa, or at home with his family. We sat down with him to talk about daily life, faith, and what keeps him grounded.

Q: What does your day-to-day involvement look like?

Tyler:
“Mathew and I talk every day about what’s going on at the school and with the kids. We go over construction projects, what needs to be done, and navigate the best ways to get things done.”

A lot of his role is communication, problem-solving, and making sure progress keeps moving forward. It’s steady work behind the scenes.

Q: What is your favorite part about your visits to Africa?

Tyler:
“I live a very busy and hectic life, and sometimes my fuel tank gets low. My trips to Africa fill it back up again. I feel the Lord’s presence there more so than anywhere else, I think.”

For Tyler, Africa is where he resets. It reminds him why he does what he does.

Q: What’s the best part about your job farming?

Tyler:
“I love being able to work alongside my family, and I like the new challenges every day. Every day is different — that’s probably one of my favorite things about farming, especially being diversified. I love being outside and enjoying God’s creation, and being a farmer is a great way to be a part of it. And on the 8th day… God made a farmer.”

He appreciates the variety and the responsibility. Farming keeps him active, engaged, and connected to the land.

Q: Is there a verse you meditate on often?

Tyler:
“One of my favorite verses that has been in my mind a lot lately is Matthew 6:33:
‘Seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.’

I strive to live this out, and the Lord gives me everything I need plus some. It’s how He designed us to live.”

That verse shapes his priorities and how he approaches decisions.

Q: When you’re not farming or leading a nonprofit, what do you enjoy doing?

Tyler:
“I’m working on my pilot’s license. Flying is just one of the coolest things a person can do — I love it. I also paint and restore farm equipment. I like making things look nice.”

He enjoys learning new skills and improving what’s already there.

Q: What’s your favorite meal, and who do you most enjoy sharing it with?

Tyler:
“Mexican food. And I enjoy having meals with family.”

Time around the table matters to him.

Q: What’s a simple daily routine you value?

Tyler:
“I spend time in prayer every morning and every night before bed. The Lord walks with me all day long, but setting time aside for prayer and reading His Word is very important. Also, making my bed in the morning is the first task completed — lol.”

Simple disciplines keep him grounded.

Q: What’s one small thing that brings you joy during a long day?

Tyler:
“Being a blessing to somebody. There is nothing that brings me more joy than helping somebody and giving the glory to God. Also, when someone is a blessing to me.”

Serving others is what keeps him motivated.

Q: What gives you hope for the future?

Tyler:
“Knowing where I’ve come from, I know where I’m going. We’ve done a lot, and I know that this is only the beginning. We don’t know what the future holds, but the Lord sees it all. We’ll let Him lead the way.”

His hope is rooted in trust — steady, forward-looking, and grounded in faith.
